Kathy Griffin is right ! And spare us the selective outrage — Trump has done worse, but as a man he gets a pass! by Frank Giorno

I defend Kathy Griffin and her right to express how she feels about the harmful policies of Donald Trump through her use of political theatre. Political theatre is a legitimate form of expression.

17_0603_Kathy Griffin News Conference

Kathy Griffin is exercising her freedom of speech in holding a prop that resembles Trump’s head smeared with ketchup…it is tame compared to Hollywood standards.

Kathy Griffin is well within her first amendment rights of free speech to show her disgust at this vile man masquerading as President of the United States by engaging in political theatre.

As a Canadian and a neighbour of the United States, I respect the office of the President. FDR now there was a President! Dwight D. Eisenhower, what a leader!

I am afraid though, that after Trump there won’t be much of an office left to respect. This man is a wrecking ball.

And speaking of theatre, for Christ sake the American movie industry is repleted with grosser props than the ketchup drenched fake head held up by Griffin…only those indignities we call blockbuster movie hits.

Griffin is only doing what Trump has been doing. He uses sensational words and phrases, while Griffin uses no words and a prop to get her message out.

I guess a fat, ugly, white man with $4 billion can joke at  an NRA convention in 2016 in the midst of a presidential election about using their guns to kill a female presidential candidate – Hillary Clinton,  but a woman cannot joke about Trump, a man –  by holding a grotesque -Halloween, fake, severed head prop.

Candidate Trump can make disparaging remarks about Megyn Kelly’s saying quite proudly that the former FOX News anchor was bleeding from her whatever…and people still elected hi president, well it was on 300 something members of the electoral collage , but thank God! more than 3 million voters voted against the six time bankrupted businessman, alleged serial groper and according to Harry Hurt III a wife beater.

Donald Trump’s Bloody Imagery Hurled at Megyn Kelly

In my books , 3 million Americans is a lot larger number than 300 electors. Some democracy, where a blade of grass in Iowa, has more voting clout than a human being in California.

Despite the “loss-win” Trump continues to act  like King Donald I – absolute monarch of America…didn’t you guys have a revolution in 1776 to overthrow your last absolute monarch — King George the III?

Folks, it is not Donald Trump’s head Griffin is holding…it is a prop. Like the props used in many grotesque Hollywood movies and television shows. Such grotesqueness has not led to producers or directors getting fired. Rather they have gotten quite rich and famous because of their gore. Take Sam Peckinpah please!

So why the outrage?

Something is wrong with America, that can consume hours and hours of murder porn, like Criminal Minds as entertainment, but acts outraged at Griffin’s prank.

“Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia”…the name of a Sam Peckinpah 1970s movie starring Warren Oates and a severed head prop. No outrage there.

Actually, Peckinpah’s ultra violent movies are considered high art. Of course, Griffin is no Peckinpah…she is after all a woman, and though Peckinpah’s disgusting movie and prop are hailed, Griffin and her prop are reviled. I guess Quentin Tarantino, another man, has followed in Peckinpah’s footsteps and carried on the good old ultra violence.

Alfredo Garcia

Sam Peckinpah’s movie about a severed head is hailed as cinematic art…all of Peckinpah’s bloodied films are. Poor Kathy Griffin’s bloodied head prop is reviled as much as Peckinpah’s is hailed. Go figure

Consider how many innocent men, women children  were killed by Trump-approved tomahawk missiles strike in Syria, the stepped up military action near Mosul and the mother of all bomb strike in Afghanistan, where was the American outrage?

Those blown up bloodied heads and bodies were real. Kathy Griffin’s stage prop was a piece of rubber covered with ketchup.

So much outrage over a prop that was not real.

Kathy Griffin, a woman with a bloody prop gets fired. But Donald Trump gets lauded as acting Presidential.

Kathy Griffin, take an extended road trip. You will be a big hit in Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Rome and Berlin, where they see Trump murdering NATO and killing the planet by withdrawing from the Paris Accord.

You go girl! You will get standing ovations.

The bloodied Trump prop-head is political theatre as much as Trump’s Syrian air strike or his outrageous comments during he election campaign,

Why not fire Trump for his really bloodied hands, and his comments about NRA members using their guns on Hillary Clinton? Or Megyn Kelly’s bloodied “whatever?”

And you hypocritical Americans…yez you Al Franken, and you Chelsea Clinton, and you Anderson Cooper — just go back to watching your Criminal Minds and your other murder porn favourites, like Dexter and Hannibal Licter and Freddy Krueger.

Bloodiest TV Shows

Hell, you don’t have to watch fiction just turn on your nightly news outlets and you see real life blood oozing out of an about to die American or other death rattles….where is the outrage over those deaths brought to you live in your living room.

Or you can watch Spike TV or the Discovery Channel’s 1,000 Ways to Die.

1,000 Ways to Die

This outrage over Kathy Griffin hoisting a Trump prop head…It’s a selective and calculated outrage over Kathy Griffin. It’s a sorry, cold blooded ploy to deflect from Trump’s selling out America to the Russians.

Like the calculated approval to strike  a Syrian airfield another more deadly smoke screen to divert from Trump’s Russia problems.

Trump kills in Syria and Afghanistan and Fareed Zakharia on CNN’s GPS hails Trump as acting Presidential.

Trumps deadly airstrikes in Syria makes him presidential ?

Trump, the man gets away with murder, and disparaging remarks about women, and gets elected president. A woman, like Kathy Griffin, exercises her right to free speech, and political theatre ,and she gets fired.

So it goes as Kurt Vonnegut would say.

I guess it is, as James Brown sings… a man’s world.
