Here is the beautiful thing about living in a smaller community like Timmins.
You get to meet really neat people like photographer and gallery owner Katelyn Malo.
Katelyn will hosting the Tiny Art Exhibit in Timmins at the Black Spruce Art Gallery 40 Pine St. S. from May 2 to June 30th. All entries cannot be bigger than than 5 inches by 5 inches and the framing cannot exceed 10 inches by 10 inches.
Sculptures are welcome as well as paintings, photographs, and other visuals. Sculptures can be 6 inches by six inches in size.
I first met Katelyn about five years ago when she published a book titled Timmins: Portraits of a Hometown.
Back then, I invited Katelyn to talk about her book of amazing photos at Timmins Voices, which I was hosting at Christopher’s Coffee House back in 2012.
Today, she continues her photography, while operating the Black Spruce Gallery and Framing store. She has held so many great exhibits. I can’t list them all here. Go to the Black Spruce Gallery website Black Spruce Gallery Timmins

This Miniature or Tiny Art Exhibit as I refer to in my article — it is a great idea.
And I will submit 4 pieces, 2 ink drawings and 2 photos.
The other neat thing about living in a small city like Timmins (41,000 at last count) is that you really get to know a person and also their family.
I met Katelyn’s father Dr. Larry Malo (originally from Toronto by the way) at the Timmins Voices event for Katelyn in 2012.
Two years later I stumbled onto his property around December 2014 or 2015 taking photographs for the Christmas Bird count — an annual Timmins event.
As I was snapping away at birds on this property in mid -Timmins, a kindly owner opened the door to inquire who might be taking photos on this Dec.23rd?
We had a good laugh. Dr. Malo, actually helped me identify the bird a scarlet something grosbeak or nuthatch of something.
He even grabbed a pair of binoculars so we could look closer at the bird to better identify it.
Fast forward to August, 2016. I am lieing on top of a gurney at the Timmins District Hospital ready for my stomach hernia operation. The nurse comes by and says the anesthesiologist will be by in 5 minutes. I was expecting a female doctor who interviewed my the previous week, but instead I hear “Hello” from a masculine voice.
It was a smiling Dr. Malo — ” Are we ready for this operation?” he asked.
“I want you to count from one hundred backwards to zero,” he said.
I don’t think I made it past 97. I was out and a few seconds later… or so it seemed to me, I asked the nurse when the operation would begin…she laughed, and said it was over 30 minutes ago.
So not only have I got to know Katelyn, but her father, Dr. Larry Malo, also has been a positive factor in my life.
Not sure what the odds of this happening in Toronto are. Any one know?

An old decrepit Roy Cohn was the mentor, and lawyer to a cocky arrogant developer from New York named Donald J. Trump.
Trump was taught his attack dog tactics from Cohn, who employed them on behalf of the doomed Senator McCarthy during the 1950s.
McCarthy died of a heart attack in 1957, a broken man after he was censured, and rebuked by the Senate.

Donald Trump, having learned McCarthy tactics from the evil Roy Cohn, in the 1970s and 1980s, prior to Cohn dying of AIDS in 1986. Cohn was a deeply closeted gay man who was virulently anti-gay.
Like Joe McCarthy, Donald Trump used the media to spread lies and falsehoods against President Obama. Trump spread mass innuendo that President Obama was not an American Citizen.
President Obama showed the entire world his Hawaiian birth certificate. Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961. Despite the release of this information by President Obama in 2010, Trump refused to give up the false claim, until September, 2016 and he never apologized.

Again, like McCarthy’s false claim about communists in the state department, Trump said President Obama wiretapped him.
Live broadcasts of the McCarthy House and Senate Hearings on TV showed how crazed and reckless McCarthy was acting. Investigations showed there were no communists in the state department not one, let alone the 50 claimed by McCarthy with Cohn’s help.
On March 20, 2017, the House Investigation Committee testimony of FBI director James Comey, showed there was no evidence of President Obama wiretapping Trump Towers as claimed by the delusional McCarthyite – Donald Trump.
In true counter attack mode to divert from his own sleazy relations with Russia, Trump actually charged Obama with using McCarthy tactics and wiretapping him. First, McCarthy never wiretapped anyone! Wire tapping was not on McCarthy’s menu of dirty tricks.
Obama has no connections to the McCarthy legacy, but Trump does. Roy Cohn is the glue that bonds Trump and McCarthy – together.

The United States of America had very cordial relations with Russia through the Boris Yeltsin years and into the first several years of Vladimir Putin’s reign. That all changed when Russia backed Ukrainian Russian factions in that country’s civil war in 2012, leading to the annexation of Crimea from the Ukraine.
It was Russian interference in the Ukrainian general election that triggered the fractious war.
Trump is wrong to think that simply making nice with Russia will change Russian behaviour.
And of course there is the issue of Russia holding compromising information about Trump’s sexual peccadilloes and financial conflicts.
Trump must reveal the extent of his compromising activities by reporting Russian attempts to blackmail or otherwise control him to the CIA and FBI. These agencies are loyal to America and the President of the USA….Putin and Russia are not and only
want to use Trump for their own geopolitical ends.
My cartoon sums it up….yes, Trump is the fucking president for the next four years. He is in charge….the U.S. must be vigilant that his arrogant airhead, doesn’t sell the store to enrich his pockets and his ego.

In solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux I share this memory of my first time listening to Jim Pepper’s Witchi Tai To.
It was a transformative moment for me. It was 1969 and the healing powers of Witchi Tai To reached over the air waves on my $10 radio. I was 14 years old.
The song is a healing song based on ancient chants of the Kaw Nation which was once located south of North Dakota in the lands that became the state of Kansas in 1850. The Kaw are a southern Sioux people and the name means “south wind.”
But the ruthless, genocidal policies of US presidents like Andrew Jackson (Treaty of 1826 )and those that followed, the Kaw were forced to Oklahoma by white settlers and the US Army, railway building and cattle ranging and then when oil was found in Oklahoma the Kaw lands were again severely reduced and many Kaw were displaced

Recently I asked my Facebook friends to provide me advice on how I should handle a request for a replacement cheque of $100 that I provided a right wing friend of mine when Donald Trump was declared president-elect of the United States.

After I sent the $100 cheque to my hyper conservative friend, he failed to deposit it and left it in his shirt pocket which his wife put in the washing machine and dryer thus destroying it.
I dismissed outright the suggestion from another elderly conservative, Trump-loving friend (well more elderly than me LOL), who wanted me to immediately re-write the cheque and send it to the unfortunate fellow whose wife laundered the cheque in the wash.
To all my middle of the road and lefty friends who said I paid my debt and it is his problem that the cheque was destroyed in the wash ha ha ha ha ha…the symbolism is drenched in comedy. LOL.
As an admirer of Canadian Prime Minister William Lyon McKenzie King who on the issue of a Canadian wartime conscription during World War 2 utter these very funny words: (part of the evolution of the Canadian comedy tradition, I guess) — my approach will be be pragmatic and flexible.

Some of us remember the insane candidacy of Lyndon Larouche. Mr. Larouche who espoused much of the same philosophy as the Trumpster never won in the 1980s and 1990s.
I must also note, that the 2016 Election was also tainted by the massive and unprecedented incursion of the FBI into the election on Trump’s behalf a week prior to voting – falsely claiming Clinton was embroiled in Anthony Weiner’s emails. And then saying oops…we were wrong – she wasn’t.
Let me think about whether I should replace the cheque.
Certainly if I do re-issue it, it will be after the recount in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, that will be triggered by allegations of cyber hacking of the computer based voting systems in those states.
Jill Stein, the Green Party presidential candidate, has already filed for a recount in Michigan on Friday. She now has the funds to officially demand a recount in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Also, I will require your husband to sign an agreement/acknowledgement and mail it to me before I possibly send him the replacement cheque.
That is of course unless the recounts in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania reverse the totals thus giving those states’ electoral college votes to Hillary Clinton, who in those circumstances will be declared President elect.
In that case of course your husband will send me the cheque.
In the attachment I have included several sections from Harry Hurt III’s 1993 book on Trump and Ivana titled “Lost Tycoon”. The sections describe Donald Trump’s brutal sexual assault and rape of his wife at the time– Ivana Trump.
You can not say this book is some false news that was cooked up to defeat Trump in this election, like the James Comey false allegations and all the Ezra Levant and Breitbart bullshit your husband wants me to read in his support of Trump.
These facts in Harry Hurt’s book have stood the test of time and are true. Trump has had 23 years to sue the writer for libel, but he didn’t because the truth will trump Trump and his denials that he raped Ivana.
Ivana filed a deposition in court in 1992 saying she was raped by Donald Trump in 1989. She also told author Harry Hurt III the same information in the interviews, Hurt conducted with Ivana. Hurt also interviewed Trump himself, Trump’s dad Fred and others in researching the book.
Afterwards, Trump got a restraining order on Ivana because their pre-nuptial agreement said she could not disclose the details of Trump’s business and personal life.
Fearing that the courts would take everything away from her, as Donald wanted as a relief from the breach of the pre-nup, Ivana watered down her allegations, but in no way recanted or denied them.
As the Lost Tycoon was going to be released to bookstores, Donald Trump sent a notice to the publisher and demanded that the insert which is included below, be attached to the book.
The notice reworded Ivana’s claim of rape and used more weasely words to describe what still amounted to spousal rape.
I will ask your husband to sign an acknowledgement of all of Donald Trump’s business failures, misogyny, racism and sexual assaults on women beginning with his rape of Ivana.
I also want your husband to acknowledge that Trump was a major business loser, having gone bankrupt six times and someone who played fast and loose with other people’s money to the point where the US banking industry considered him to be financial poison.
That is why Trump had to go to billionaires like Vladimir Putin, and others in Kazakhstan, China and India for loans. And now they own him.

Hurt said Trump’s value in 1993 was approximately, – $350 million; that is negative $350 million, if he was forced to liquidate all his highly leveraged properties to repay his loans, bonds and debentures.

If your husband signs, seals and delivers the agreement/acknowledgement I will gladly re-write the laundered cheque.
However, if he refuses to sign the acknowledgement, then I will refuse to re-write the cheque, which God destroyed as a sign of displeasure at the election of that cretin Trump.
You should not feel bad for unwittingly destroying the $100 cheque in the wash, as you were only working on God’s behalf — deus ex machina – the hand of God.
